A desperate housewife who lives in Akwukwu-Igbo community near Asaba,
Delta State, Eunice (surname withheld), has allegedly stolen a
two-year-old neighbor’s baby and sold it for N250,000.00, according to
Leadership.
Reports said that the woman, who is currently helping the police and
cooling off her heels at the state’s police, CID, Asaba, was said to
have arranged for the sale of the baby with a woman who was said to have
been married for 18 years without a child in Lagos before the bubble
burst.
It was reliably gathered that a trusted neighbour had
last Wednesday appealed to Eunice to help look after the baby to
enable her buy some food items in a neighbouring community’s market.
Eunice, however, put a call across to the said buyer (now at large).
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Celestina Kalu, who confirmed the arrest of the woman, disclosed that the suspect had disappeared after selling the baby. DSP Kalu said that the police, acting on a tip-off and relying on neighbors who sighted the woman while the deal lasted, swung into action and arrested the woman in Ore Community where she was lodged in hotel.
