A Cardiff nightclub owner has been found guilty of using business as a "lair" to sexually assault young women. Carlos Brown faces years in jail after three unanimous verdicts exposed him as a predator.
Prosecuting, James Wilson, told Cardiff Crown Court that Brown was old enough to be either of the girls' grandfather. He strenuously denied all charges against him and told the court that both had given him signals, while the student specifically asked him for sex. Recorder, Paul Hopkins QC, told Brown: ”You have been convicted by this jury of despicable and disgraceful behavior. The 53-year-old used his club, popular Cardiff hotspot Charlie Browns, to lure women before sexually assaulting them after hours, reports Wales Online. One victim, a 20-year-old university student, and another teenage girl were invited for a lock-in before Brown suggested the pair might be up for a threesome.
“You have been exposed as a sexual predator of young women whose lair was Charlie Brown’s.”
Brown told the court that the women had been flirtatious and dancing provocatively on the pool table.
But horrified jurors were forced to watch CCTV footage of the 20-year-old being raped.
Police obtained the footage after the student woke up the following morning to find him attempting to have sex with her again. She was unaware of the first attack until police told her some time later.
