David Akande managed to hold out for a staggering 21 days after he was arrested by police who were convinced he had drugs stashed on him when they stopped him in October last year, Mirror UK reports.
Akande, 26, was taken into custody but refused to co-operate with a full body search so officers watched him day in, day out in the hope he would reveal his haul. Despite showing remarkable perseverance, Kent Police used powers to extend custody well beyond the usual period allowed, and eventually their patience was rewarded when 24 wraps were recovered.
The drugs included cocaine, a cocaine cutting agent and traces of a heroin derivative.
Akande, of Sylvan Hill, Upper Norwood, south London, pleaded not guilty to a charge of possession with intent to supply cocaine. But after a trial at Maidstone Crown Court he was convicted by a jury and he was jailed for seven years on April 27.
Detective Constable Jeremy Taylor said: “Akande has lied throughout about his involvement in drugs despite the overwhelming evidence we have been able to show. “He had mistakenly assumed that if he waited long enough he would be released from custody with little or no evidence to charge him.
“His arrogance and deceit, together with a previous history of convictions for drugs supply, have resulted in a substantial prison sentence.
“The sentence as well as the indignity Akande has put himself through while in custody should serve as severe warning to anyone."
