Why I Don’t Kiss In Movies – Fathia Balogun

She is of the opinion that filmmakers can explain better why such roles have eluded her. The estranged wife of actor Saheed Balogun therefore said she would be willing to play a kissing role if given the role.

According to her, “they don’t give me script for kissing. They don’t just give me and I don’t know why. But if I’m given one, as long as the story makes sense, I will do it.” Fathia was born on February 1969 at Ukwara, Water Side Local Government area of Delta State, southern Nigeria.

She attended Maryland Primary School and Maryland Comprehensive High School in Lagos state, where she obtained the West African School Certificate before she proceeded to Kwara State Polytechnic where she received a Diploma Certificate.
She has starred and produced several Nigerian films over the years. In 2008, she won the Africa Movie Academy Award for the Most Outstanding Actress Indigenous and her movie Iranse Aje won the best indigenous film of the year.

In April 2014, she won the Africa Movie Academy Award, having emerged as best actress of the year alongside with Odunlade Adekola who emerged as best actor of the year.
